The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs bowling teams have wrapped up their seasons, both regular and post-season after taking part in the 5A West conference tournament followed by the 5A state tournament earlier this month. Five GHS rollers earned all-conference honors while one bowler, Parker Pierce, was named to the 5A all-state team for his performance. Both teams are led by Head Coach Austin Moreton and volunteer assistant coach Barbara Brown.

After the end of the regular season, both GHS teams participated in the 5A West conference tournament at Fast Lanes in Lowell in Northwest Arkansas on February 5th. The Lady Bulldogs finished sixth among ten teams with Julia Witherington and Lorelai Graham named to the all-conference team. Both qualified for the state tournament as individuals, along with teammate Brianna Wilson. The state tournament was held at Cabot and the Greenbrier Lady Panthers won the girls 5A state championship.

The Greenwood boys fared even better than their female teammates, placing third overall in the league tournament, qualifying the entire team for the state tournament. All-conference selections included Greenwood’s Dylan Nicholson, Parker Pierce, and Peyton Doss. The Bulldogs then placed fourth overall in Class 5A, led by all-state honoree Parker Pierce who rolled a three-game series of 644 pins for 11th in the state in Class 5A. The Vilonia Eagles won the boys 5A state title at Cabot.

According to Coach Moreton, seniors this season for the girls are Brianna Wilson and Ally Thomas. There are four seniors among the Bulldogs, including Will Hutcherson, Nate Garvin, Eric Holmes, and Isaiah Dollarhyde. Except for Brianna Wilson, all of Greenwood’s all-conference and all-state bowlers will return next season, a good omen for the future.
