The Greenwood High School girls and boys soccer teams are now two weeks deep into their 2016 schedule, starting with a pair of benefit matches at home on February 23rd against Springdale. Since then they have played Fort Smith Northside, Subiaco Academy, and participated in a girls tournament at Conway. Greenwood is led by Head Coach Andrew Post.
Against Springdale at Smith-Robinson Stadium, the GHS girls fought to a 1-1 tie, while the GHS boys lost 2-0. A week later on March 1st, both teams traveled to Fort Smith Northside, with the Grizzlies getting wins in both matches, shutting out the Lady Bulldogs (1-0) and the Bulldogs (3-0).
Last Thursday, March 3rd, the Greenwood boys hosted Subiaco Academy and earned their first win of the season, 6-0.
Then last weekend the Lady Bulldogs played four matched in the Conway tournament over two days, winning three of the four contests. They defeated Central Arkansas Christian (2-0), beat Conway (1-0), topped Greenbriar (2-0), before losing to Cabot (2-0).
This past Tuesday's twin matches at home against Fort Smith Southside were postponed due to rain. Greenwood and Van Buren will jointly host a tournament this weekend on Friday and Saturday. Greenwood will then host Shiloh Christian next Tuesday, starting with the varsity girls match at 4 p.m.
