The annual Bulldog Relays track and field meet was held on Thursday, March 14th, just before the start of spring break. Including Greenwood, a total of 19 schools participated in the event which began under a sunny sky. But the wind blew hard throughout the day and once the sun went down the wind chill dropped considerably.
The Lady Bulldogs scored points in five events, including one first place finish. The Bulldogs scored points in four events, also including one first place finish.
Greenwood’s Annalee Busso earned first place points in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 9’6”. The next best finish was a pair of third place performances by Taylor Koeth and Macie Cash.
Koeth competed in the 3200-meter run and turned in a third-place time of 12:22.04. Cash and Taylor both participated in the 1600-meter run, with Cash coming in third (5:44.30) and Taylor fourth (5:47.30).
The Lady Bulldogs’ final points came from Destiny Stallings, who ran sixth for Greenwood in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.54 seconds.
For the Bulldogs, Christian Schaefer earned first place points in the boys’ pole vault, topping the bar at 13’6”. Greenwood’s Nathaniel Gonzales placed second in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:19.97.
Senior Max Vickery ran fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.34 seconds, and the 4x800-meter relay team placed sixth with a time of 9:21.37.
The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs competed this past Tuesday in the Tiger Relays at Mansfield High School, but results were not available at press time.
They will compete in the Airedale Relays in Alma on Friday and in the Cyclone Relays at Russellville the following Friday, April 5th.
