The Greenwood Lady Bulldogs opened their 2019 regular season campaign last week with a benefit match at Bentonville, winning two of three sets against the Lady Tigers, 23-25, 25-21, and 15-13. The GHS girls also beat Shiloh Christian in two sets, winning 25-20 and 25-18.
Greenwood’s first official match of the season was played this past Monday at home against Fayetteville, one of the top 7A programs in the state. After dropping the first two sets (25-27, 23-25), the GHS girls rallied to win 28-26 and 25-23 to force a decisive fifth set, won by Fayetteville, 15-11.
Senior Camryn Presley led Greenwood with 22 kills at the net. Junior Anna Johnson had three service aces, while senior Izzy Davis and junior Madison Pugh shared the team lead in digs with 16 each. Johnson also led the team in assists with 30.
The Lady Bulldogs are on the road for the next two weeks until they host Greenbrier in a conference match on September 10th.
