The Lady Bulldogs proved too much for Vilonia Friday night as Greenwood went on to beat the Lady Eagles by a score of 42-37 in the conference opener.
Greenwood went on 9-0 tear early in the first quarter to put Vilonia behind for the rest of the night.
The Bulldogs out scored the Eagles 20-15 going into half time.
The Lady Eagles tried to sneak their way back into the game early in the third with a 6-0 drive. Lead scorer on the night, Samantha Gray, gave Greenwood a shot in the arm with a bucket, a free throw. Alyssia Duvall finish off the quarter with buzzer beater to make the score 32-23.
The fourth quarter was bogged down with free throws, but shots made by Chelsea Black, Jill Barrett and Laura Davidson kept Greenwood in the lead.
“We are 1-0 in conference and that is the biggest thing right now,” said Girls Head Coach Clay Reeves. “Every conference game will be like this one, a battle to the end. Any win that you can get in our conference is a great win. Our kids play great tonight. The only thing is that we have got to shoot better from the free throw line."
