The Greenwood Bulldogs defeated Texarkana Friday night to advance to the state semifinals.
Landry Jurecka shut the Razorbacks down in the top of the first inning. Jackson Webb started off the bottom of the first with a double, which was followed by a Cooper Passmore walk. Peyton Holt kept the no-out rally going as he singled. Connor Noland was the man to bring in the first run of the game as he singled to left knocking in Webb. Colton Sagely knocked in one more run for Greenwood as he hit a sacrifice fly to center, making it 2-0 in the bottom of the first.
Texarkana responded in the top of the third as they hit a two run homer making it 2-2. Greenwood answered back minutes later after Connor Noland homered to left, followed by a Colton Sagely home run. Greenwood was not done in the inning, Brandon Woolsey walked before Jake Smith hit a double to right field putting men on second and third. Chance Eoff walked, which allowed Webb to knock a sacrifice fly to center, making it a 5-2 ballgame. Greenwood knocked in one more run thanks to Passmore who singled on a line drive to center, this put Greenwood up 6-2 in the bottom of the third.
Texarkana added one more run in the fifth inning, but that would not be enough as Greenwood went on to win 6-3.
Jurecka went 7.0 innings pitched, striking out 4 and only allowing one earned run.
