The Greenwood High School volleyball program kicked off its 2017 season last week with a benefit match against Rogers High School last Thursday, sweeping all three games. The Lady Bulldogs then hosted Fayetteville this past Monday and lost in three games before making a clean sweep (3-0) at Rogers Heritage on Tuesday.

In the benefit match at Rogers, Greenwood dominated the scoring, winning easily 25-11, 25-14, and 25-15.
The scores were much closer against Fayetteville. The Lady Purple ‘Dogs narrowly defeated the Lady Bulldogs, 25-22, 25-22, and 25-17.

The two teams played three times last season, with Fayetteville winning each time, accounting for nearly half of Greenwood’s seven total losses. Fayetteville is the two-time defending Class 7A state champion.

This past Tuesday the GHS traveled north to Rogers once again, this time to Rogers Heritage High School to take on the Lady War Eagles. Greenwood won 25-18, 25-15, and 26-24 to take the match 3-0.

At press time, no individual player stats were yet available for any of the three matches.

Greenwood will play at Fort Smith Northside on Thursday of this week before heading to Bentonville over the weekend for tournament play on Saturday against Kickapoo High School of Springfield, MO, Springdale Har-Ber, and Bentonville West.

The Lady Bulldogs will host Shiloh Christian next Monday in a 5 p.m. match before traveling to Alma next Tuesday and hosting Clarksville next Thursday, also at 5 p.m.
