Head Coach Ken Hamilton and his GHS tennis teams opened their 2016 campaign last Tuesday, August 16th, at Van Buren, easily dominating the Pointers. Greenwood lost just two matches, one girls and one boys match.
"It was the first time we've beaten Van Buren in several years," said Hamilton, who expects his teams to compete well this fall in the new conference tournament format and at the state level.
This past Tuesday the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs moved their scheduled home match with Northside to Fort Smith's Creekmore Park instead. The two schools split the matches.
The GHS girls won four of six singles matches and two of three doubles bouts, winning six of nine overall. The GHS boys won three of seven singles matches and just one of three doubles events.
Another match scheduled for last Thursday, August 18th, at Arkansas Tech in Russellville against Pulaski Academy, was cancelled due to weather concerns. The GHS netters will host Fort Smith Southside this Thursday beginning around 3:30 p.m.
