Greenwood High School had four golfers named to the Arkansas Activities Association’s 2017 Class 6A All-State team. The Lady Bulldogs won the girls’ tournament at Big Creek Country Club in Mountain Home to capture their fourth state championship September 25-26.
The team’s top two players were Sydnie Gamble and Jordan Lane, both of whom were named all-state. Gamble was the 6A state medalist, firing an impressive two-day, 36-hole total of 145. Lane placed fifth overall in the state, carding a two-day score of 183. Gamble is a senior and Lane is a sophomore.
For the second consecutive season, the GHS boys finished as runners-up to Jonesboro High School, which hosted the event at Jonesboro Country Club and has won the state title eight straight seasons. The tournament was held October 2-3.
Greenwood’s top two scorers were junior Evan Griffith and senior Nathan Munday. Griffith tied for state medalist honors with a score of 147 over 36 holes, while Munday finished fifth overall at 154. Both GHS linksters were named to the all-state squad.
